Here’s a little something we’ve been working on. A bunch of our mates from the venues you love have curated their mixes. We thought we would share them with you! Introducing ‘The Friend Zone’
This is Maui, you may know him if you’ve eaten at the banging Chinese Restaurant @littlevalley_ . We dig their wines and that’s all Maui, so we had him put together a mix. He had this to say about his mix...
"As far as classic wine styles go, Scorpo is a 'must' for me. Every year I look forward to their release as it improves from their previous releases. I’m also a great fan of sherry wines from Jerez and wines from the Jura. Latta’s 'Jurassique Blanc' should be on any left-of-center wine drinker’s list."
2018 Koerner ‘Gullyview’ Riesling
From the best block of fruit on the Koerner vineyard. It’s aged in Slavonian Oak, which is left of centre for Clare Rizz but creates a wine with orange blossom and citrus characters and heaps of aromatic spice.
2017 Latta Jurassique Blanc
This is Owen Latta’s take on the famous vin jaune style of the Jura in France. Nutty, saline and drawn together with lemon pith acidity.
2018 Scorpo Aubaine Chardonnay
Scorpo is the Mornington Peninsula’s OG and his wines are stunning. This Chardy is pressed into old barrels and aged for about 8 months on all the solids. That creates freshness and frames the concentration of flavour that the peninsula is known for.
2018 Dillworth and Allaine Pinot Noir
Chris and Loique are relative newcomers to the Macedon Ranges wine region but are making waves with their take on some of the best fruit in the region. Their Pinot is concentrated yet elegant and has incredibly complexity. Dark berries and exotic spice are where it’s at!
2019 Scorpo Noirien Pinot Noir Magnum
Mush like the Aubaine earlier this Scorpo Pinot is all about purity. Black cherries, red berries and a hint of vanillin make up the nose and palate. The best part is it’s a BIGGIE! 1.5L Magnum, ready for the relaxation of social distancing!
2015 La Violetta Billingue GMS
La Violetta are most known for brilliant Pet Nats and aromatic whites but the real superstars of the collection are their cool climate reds. This Grenache, Mataro, Syrah from Great Southern offers awesome concentration of dark fruits, a hint of bitter chocolate and finishes with powdery tannin.
